Here are some frequently asked questions about the linen service, waste disposal and general matters etc.
Question: What do I need to bring with me ?
Normally it is necessary to bring only Duvet covers / Sheets / pillow case covers & towels etc. ie. your own personal linen. We do supply everything else that you need for a self catering holiday, but please check with us if you are not sure.
Question: Can you supply linen?
Most of our house do have a complete linen service which includes:- bath towels, tea towels, sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, and hand towels. This service is available for most of the cottages on these pages. It now means that it is no longer necessary for you to bring anything except your own personal bits and bobs. The charge for this service is £9:00 per person at almost all of the houses (please check with us if you are not sure).
Please note; houses that do not hire linen include:-
Question: Do you do Bed & Breakfast ?
Only at La Peignardiere are we in a position to offer this service by prior arrangment. The charges are 47:00€ (per night) for two persons sharing one room . This does of course include a full continental breakfast. It is always necessary to reserve any rooms in advance. We hope this service will be helpful to visitors who only want a short stay, or guests who have friends who unexpectly turn up.
Do I need to be able to speak French ?
The simple answer is "It would be helpful if you can speak a little". However it is true to say that most shop assistants will do their best to help with any problems and to understand your needs. In the Fougeres area there are four major supermarkets, and this of course means that for normal shopping it is possible to get by with out speaking one word. This is perhaps a shame as part of the fun of staying in another country with a different language and culture is practising your language skills.
Who takes care of the household waste?
The following only applies to these properties:
La Peignardiere, Le Haut Rochule & Lavender & Thyme
Disposal of Household Waste:-
With regard to household waste the disposal of this is the clients responsibility, however if it is cleared every couple of days or so then it does not become a problem. All around the local countryside there are Bidons (right) these are large light brown wheelie bins, simply lift the lid and throw your bag of rubbish in, this is by far the easiest way, these bins can often be found quite close by. to you. Please read the notes below
Recycling in France:-
As to bottles etc that get emptied on holidays in France, almost all the supermarkets have bottle banks and all the villages also have a local bottle bank. The local councils ask that bottles are not put in the Bidon's but are disposed of in the bottle banks provided.
All over France recycling is activly encouraged you are asked to not only take your empty bottles to the bottle bank but you will find next to bottle banks bins for Cardboard, Plastic bottles & containers, Milk cartons, tins etc in fact almost everything except kitchen leftovers, at some houses we have Compost heaps for any uncooked vegtable waste, this then means that rubbish to be disposed of in the Bidons or on collection day should be very small indeed, We do ask that you make full use of all the recycling areas near to your house for the benifit of all
As you will see from the conditions of rental we do reserve the right to charge for the disposal of any rubbish / waste that may be left in the houses.
Items that are re-useable (i.e. washing-up liquid, soap powder, unwanted sealed food etc). that are left behind, would not be considered rubbish and where suitable would be left for the next client.
